Why Budgeting is the side-hustle everyone should be talking about

Working hard at saving money can offer a better ROI than almost any other side-hustle.

So, no-one has any money at the moment. I don’t know what it’s like in your part of the world, but from where I’m sitting (a little outside of London, UK, if you’re interested) the vista is an ugly one of eye-watering interest and inflation rates. The “cost of living” (a truly bleak phrase) is overwhelming people as their energy bills sky rocket and their wages, well, don’t.

So in the interest of still being able to feed my children, I started a few months ago to get really interested in my personal financial situation — how to best understand it, and how to best improve it. This quickly led me down a rabbit-hole of articles and videos about passive income and side-hustles. You can, so the claim goes, earn $1000s a month from home, online. I’ll write elsewhere about my experience of falling head-first into this world, and my no doubt all too common cocktail of successes and failures, but for now, I want to talk about a side-hustle that hasn’t crept up in any of the articles I’ve read so far: Budgeting.

A photo of a glass jar, lying on its side with copper and silver coins spilling out of it onto the floor.
Look after the pennies, etc…

And I get it, this isn’t sexy and doesn’t proffer many clickbait-friendly titles, but the reality is it may well be one of your best options…
